The Greek crisis takes a new turn

Talks between Greece and its creditors collapsed over the weekend. The Greek government has called a referendum on July 5 to accept or reject its creditors’ terms — a move almost universally considered to be a poll on the continued membership of the euro area.

D-Day for healthcare — Three potential outcomes of U.S. Supreme Court ruling

The Supreme Court is about to rule on whether to uphold tax subsidies for individuals buying health insurance on the 34 federally administered state public health exchanges. Congress and the Department of Health and Human Services will have to scramble to respond to invalidation and respond quickly to enrollees, providers and payers.

The bond bear that cried wolf

For the past several years, bond bears regularly cautioned the Federal Reserve’s zero-interest-rate policy was unsustainable, calling for higher rates in the foreseeable future. Bond investors have become gradually more cautious over the past year.
