What’s the outlook for muni bonds?

Global Asset Allocation Outlook (as of May 13, 2014)

The global asset allocation team reaffirmed their recommendation to modestly overweight equities versus bonds, despite the slight underperformance of equities relative to bonds so far this year. The S&P 500 is up about 3.5% while the Barclay’s aggregate index is up 4.0% and longer dated bonds are up over 13%.

ECB QE – No green light for interest rate risk

Fed officials should be encouraged by the ECB’s announcement to begin a large-scale bond buying program in an effort to shore up growth and prevent deflation. The action reduces downside risks to global growth, and thus the risks of spillovers to the domestic economy.
